Neighbors, Birds, and Comebacks

First, I'm grateful to the thoughtful neighbor who sent out an email alert that there was a BALD EAGLE attending to its fish prey on the pond in town. I rushed over and had a few lucky minutes to admire this hulking iconic bird before gulls chased it away. I remember the first time I saw a bald eagle in town a few years ago, at first I wasn't sure if I had really seen one. Although they're distinctively recognizable with their huge black bodies sandwiched between white heads and tails, basically I thought no way am I seeing such a rare, majestic bird here in this non-wilderness-y Boston suburb. But I did some quick googling and it turned out, WAY! Although bald eagles were put on the national endangered species list in 1967, they have since made a massive comeback and were delisted in 2007. And that is something I am very thankful for. Good job, people who helped bring them back, and good job, bird!
